A castle shining bright,
A princess sad and fair,
My journey took me there.
I gave to her my heart,
In that place so far away,
I will return some day.
Take my dreams with me,
For there my love will be.
I held the sword my hands,
I slayed the troll with three great heads.
I'll find the way to go.
Where the west wind blows.
To the castle.
Take your leave tonight,
If you think that hopes come true,
Sail across the ocean blue.
You'll find there meadows wide,
And wondrous fields of green,
You may just find your dream.
Take my dreams with me,
For there my love will be.
I held the sword my hands,
I slayed the troll with six great heads.
I'll find the way to go.
Where the west wind blows.
To the castle.
Take my dreams with me,
For there my love will be.
I held the sword my hands,
I slayed the troll with nine great heads.
I'll find the way to go.
Where the west wind blows.
To the castle.

Forty years on snow capped mountains,
Constant hardship, stinging rain.
....long lonely expeditions,
In this way, he spent his days.
Land of valleys, bush and rapids,
Cold untrodden mountain peaks,
....a vagabond existence,
In that Westland mountain breeze.
Swirls of pipe smoke curling skywards,
Lungs so full of alpine air,
....suppertime for buzzing vermin,
In that place he loved so dear.
Journal, sketches, watercolours,
Genius of cartography,
....all with so little help,
in that Westland mountain breeze.
Swag of food and gear and shelter,
Worldly wealth means nothing here,
....no false sophistications,
Just some books among his gear.
Batwing tent and boiling billy,
Just his dog for company,
....wet boots and deprivation,
In that Westland mountain breeze.
Mountains glow in deep red sunset,
Flames of memory flicker and fade,
....old bones bones and waning strength,
Gone were his adventuring days.
Sadness for a changing world,
Glimmering truth just he could see,
....Dear Charlie he, did pass,
Into that Westland mountain breeze.

Fiddler's Green
04:27
|
|||
As I went by the dockside one evening so fair
To view the salt water and taste the sea air
I heard an old fisherman singing this song
Take me away boys my time is not long
CHORUS
Wrap me up in me oilskin and jumper
No more on the docks I'll be seen
Just tell me old shipmates
I'm taking a trip, mates
And I'll see you some day in Fiddler's Green
Now Fiddler's Green is a place I've heard tell
That the fishermen go when they don't go to Hell
Where the skies are all clear and the dolphins do play
And the cold coast of Greenland is so far away
Where the skies are all clear and there's never a gale
And the fish jump on board with a swish of their tail
Where you lie at your leisure, there's no work to do
And the skipper's below making tea for the crew
When you get to the dock and the long trip is through
There's pubs and there's clubs, and there's lassies there too
Where the women are pretty and the beer is all free
And there's bottles of rum growing from every tree
I don't need a harp or a halo, not me
Just give me a breeze on a good rolling sea
I'll play me old squeeze box as we roll along
With the wind in the rigging to sing me a song....

The Path of Wildness
06:04
|

Goodbye, my friends! I hear the call,
The wild path, it beckons all.
I strike out on the road alone,
I will follow, where ever it goes.
I will follow, where ever it goes.
The road goes ever on and on,
The wild path, to which I'm drawn.
Look all you like, you may not find.
Some take heed, while others stay blind.
Some take heed, while others stay blind.
Still there things that I never have seen,
For each and every wood has a different green.
Still there things that I never will know,
For there are places that I never shall go.
Lai lai lai lai....
Goodbye, my friends! For there awaits,
A brand new road or unknown gate.
So if you also really to know,
Find the road and off you will go.
Find the road and off you will go.
The road provokes the heart of man,
And I must follow, if I can.
To find the world that this world hides,
For often I have just passed it by.
Often I have just passed it by.
Still there things that I never have seen,
For each and every wood has a different green.
Still there things that I never will know,
For there are places that I never shall go.
Lai lai lai lai....

Loneliness and Tinnitus
04:09
|
|||
Can't escape the constant ringing in my ears.
Lie awake at night, I don't know what silence is.
Don't know what silence is.
Mind won't stop its running, though the sounds are quite enough.
But I will sleep tomorrow, exhausted I'll collapse.
Exhausted I'll collapse.
My body's worth destroying, but not a warm embrace.
My mind is for disturbing, I'll die just to escape.
But that's the way it goes.
I am worth absolutely nothing.
Nobody wants me and nobody takes me.
So I'll go back, back to the waste.
Paying life to live with the hours of my life.
Getting sick for numbers, to keep the concept rife.
Keep the concept rife.
I'm sick and sad and lonely, my destiny I curse.
They tell me to be happy, it could be so much worse.
It could be worse.
Be glad with what you have, that's what they always say,
You're worth nothing more at the end of the day.
And that's the way it goes.
I will stay in the place that they want me.
It's all how you talk, it's all who you know.
And I'm in the sewer of this filthy, rotten system.
Nobody wants to give, but they all want to take.
I worked so very hard, but I still cannot escape.
Don't know how to escape.
I'm stuck here in this place.
To make some rich guy rich.

I am a man without strength
And set apart to be with the dead
I've been in the lowest pit
I've been in the darkest depths
Hammer heart
When the road is long and the night is dark
Head held high
I'll see it through before I die
Thy creature stands before you
Distressed and close to death
So free our weary eyes from tears
Or hold them fast in death
But if I must be afflicted
To suit some wise design
Then man my soul with firm resolve
To bear and not repine
On the dark side of twilight
When wings do fold and eyelids fight
When the air begins to chill
When soft light melts the distant hills
Hammer heart
When enemies stay and friends depart
Head held high
And my love for them will never die

Ceolskog Hamilton, New Zealand
Ceolskog is the folk metal project of Adam Helliwell, a singer and guitarist from New Zealand. Ceolskog's style is a cross
between traditional folk music, particularly Celtic and Nordic, and heavy metal.
Ceol means music in Irish, and skog means forest in Norwegian. Although a solo project for now, it will hopefully become an entire band in the future.
